Plot: Doctor Robotnik seeks a new way to defeat his longtime nemesis Sonic and conquer the world. During his research, he learns about an entity called Chaos—a creature that, thousands of years ago, helped to protect the Chao and the all-powerful Master Emerald, which balances the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds. When a tribe of echidnas sought to steal the power of the Emeralds, breaking the harmony they had with the Chao, Chaos retaliated by using the Emeralds' power to transform into a monstrous beast, Perfect Chaos, and wipe them out. Before it could destroy the world, Tikal, a young echidna who befriended Chaos, imprisoned it in the Master Emerald along with herself.
Seeking to use Chaos, Robotnik releases it from the Master Emerald, and tests the creature's natural form on the city of Station Square. When Sonic sees local police fail to defeat it, he and Tails work to stop Robotnik from empowering it with the Chaos Emeralds. At the same time, Knuckles, the only remaining echidna, sets out to find the shards of the Master Emerald and repair it. Activating a new series of robots, including one named Gamma, Robotnik orders them to find Froggy, an amphibian who had eaten a Chaos Emerald after mutating from contact with a piece of Chaos the night he was released. His owner Big seeks to find him as well. In Station Square, Sonic's friend Amy finds a Flicky being pursued for a Chaos Emerald in its possession, and decides to protect it. When both are captured, Amy convinces Gamma not to work for Robotnik, who helps her to escape, before seeking out and destroying the other robots in his series.
Despite Sonic managing to disrupt Robotnik's plans, Chaos manages to absorb all the Chaos Emeralds. Transforming into Perfect Chaos, it rebels against Robotnik and attacks Station Square, devastating the city. Having experienced flashbacks from Tikal, who was released herself, Sonic realizes that Chaos has been in constant torment and sorrow, and that imprisoning it again will not stop it. Using the Emeralds brought to him by the others to transform into his super form, Sonic fights Perfect Chaos and defeats it. Returned to normal, Chaos calms down when he sees the Chao living peacefully in Station Square. Realizing its pain is gone, Tikal decides to take it somewhere safe to live in peace. With Sonic having won, he decides to leave to pursue a fleeing Robotnik.
Other Facts:
For a long time, the same thing that happened to Peach(from Super Mario) was happening to Dr. Eggman. From Sonic 1 all the way to Adventure 1, Dr. Eggman was called Dr. Robotnik, outside of Japan. But in Japan he was call Dr. Eggman. Just like how Peach was called Princess Toadstool out of Japan and Peach was called Peach in Japan before Super Mario 64.
One of the most well-known Easter Eggs in Sonic Adventure is that the boss, E105c, has Dreamcast consoles on some of the outside texture! Which was probably added late in development because the game was original was gonna be on the Sega Saturn.
Because of The Saturn's bad sells, Sega started working on their new system, The Dreamcast. The Sonic Team was already working on a Sonic RPG for The Saturn, but because Sega went to The Dreamcast, and The Sonic Team had to come along with Sega to the new system! So The Sonic Team cancelled the Sonic RPG, in 1997, and later started working on Sonic Adventure.
(Better back story here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Adventure)
The E-102 Gamma story was made, because fans wanted shooting mechanic. But a little bit later everyone one wanted more shooting mechanics-like the characters having guns. Sega did not like this idea. But by this time in Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 had was shooting mechanics. One time Sega made a poll, that asked Sonic fans who they wanted to star in there own game! A lot of people picked Shadow! Sega thought how everyone wanted shooting mechanics, so Sega was like it’s NOT OK if Sonic has a gun, but it’s OK if Shadow has a gun! Then later Sega made Shadow the Hedgehog.
When Sega was making Shadow the Hedgehog, they wanted the game to be rated T(for Teen). But when they were making the game the “New” (for the time) rating E-10+ came out. And the game got the “New” rating. And by the way, Splatoon(of all games) got the same rating as Shadow the Hedgehog. XD
Shadow was original only gonna be in one game, Sonic Adventure 2, but because everyone like him, Sega put him in more games, and even one of his own!
The NiGHTS pinball machine in Sonic Adventure 1, is a pinball machine off of a nether game, called NiGHTS into Dreams(I think), The Sonic Team also worked on this game. The theme that plays in the background is the theme of NiGHTS into Dreams(well I at lease think so, I don't know about NiGHTS that much) Here's the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72Ld5UAh-6w.
The Sega Dreamcast(released 11/27/1998) was the first game system to have internet, the first Nintendo console to have internet is the Wii (released 11/19/06). A nether reason to roast Nintendo, XD, please don't. If Sega had Internet before a Nintendo system, they should of stayed making systems!
